Ive had some serious trouble getting my 6700k machine up and running.

Went thru 4 differentmotherboards, before one finally said the cpu was dead.

Took care of that, My ram was incompatible with my motherboard, so got that exchanged.

Dropped my case off at a sandblasting place to get it custom painted. They dropped it and broke it. They covered it and bought another.

After all that, it finallypowered on last night.

I got that damn magical booting sound. As of right now, its rrunning a 24 hr stress test. Ive got prime95 running it for the first 12hrs. Then Aida64 for the 2nd 12 hrs.

If it can take that, then ill overclock it. Then re run the test.

The stress testing is something I do to get the cpu ready for its life of abuse itll get.

Just was happy to finally see my computer finally work.

Yup DDR4 for this generation of i7 :)

It’s a great processor... Probably the one I’ll buy when I’ll upgrade mine... I currently run an i5 750 that has been running pretty much 24/7 since 2008. Most insane being that only now do I feel it slightly bottleneck my graphic card (OCed R9 280x 3gb)... Best processor I’ve every owned!

I had a 32gb 2x16 ddr4 2800mhz kit of ram. It just wouldnt boot with it. I tried some ram my friend had and it worked.

Now ive gotthe same kit of ram just a smidge faster at 3000mhz. GSkill was cool aboutabout They said if the price was 10 bucks or less theydcovered it.

I sent in my old kit, then got the new one.

I bought this ram for another project. But used it here. I just need to buy another and have 64gb of ram.

Then run a ramdisk and load some programs up on my ram and use the excess ram as a super speed ssd.

No, id like to but i cant.

Im running SLI gfx cards. Along with a 950 pro m2 ssd. As much as Id like one, skylake is limited on i think pcie lanes. Its limited somewhere, that between my gfx cards and m2 drive. The m2 isn’t getting its full speed.

The m2 is limited with sli gfx cards. Plus my mobo, asus rog maximus hero alpha z170 only has 2 pci e 3x16 slots.

The pci ssd is basically intel. They charge like 300 bucks for that drive.

We should have a drink sometimes, would to see your build haha :)

I used to be quite a bit into hardcore PC builds way back when, but I haven’t been much up to date since I moved to Montreal back in 2007... That’s quite a while back lol

You have to see my x99 build.

It lives at my buddies office. He doesnt have to pay electric on his office, so it lives there. Its mainly used for hosting our servers for different games. 4500dollars in pc parts that lives in a office under a table.

Once the 980ti price drops ill be getting those. Just running 2 EVGA 670 FTW cards right now.

Didnt want to order the 980ti and see it drop price when i cpuld have waited.

Using my old cards for now. Badass computer, old gfx cards. Lol

I only live in ohio lol. Im sure i can drink liquor like water. I participate in a liver crossfit team. Me and my buddies will drink your buddies under the table. Lol

haha, hey who knows, I’ll be in Michigan in september, it’s not far :)

I’ll probably go for a 6850k, because I don’t plan on changing processor for 5 or 6 years so I’d rather get something that will last... Then I’ll probably upgrade to R9 390x, because I’m a radeon guy lol... Coupled with 16gb of ram which I have noticed became fairly necessary for some games recently (Just Cause 3 made me go from 8gb to 16gb...)

I used to have raid0 of velociraptor “back in the days” so I might go with a raid0 of 1to SSD... I do some video editing from time to time and crazy fast reading access is GREAT.
